THE ANGEL

Hanin Soliman

I’m a statue, a work of art

You sit and watch me while I can’t move

I can evoke a sense of ethereal beauty, I can be dazzling…but not smart

If I had the chance to speak, do you believe I would approve?

If I told you to stop, would you stop tearing me apart?

The rain on my face, amethyst on my body and the power you have to prove

I’m shouting but it’s not enough until you hear the screams of my heart.

Are you stealing me like an object?

I see eyes but they’re not paying attention to me when I need

Even if I was an attorney no one would listen to my “I object.”

There will always be a judge saying “overruled”, indeed

Because he is a nice guy, he’s perfect

The type of guy that in life would definitely succeed

Then why am I the only one completely wrecked?

Feathers’ wings fading away

Feathers that made me warm in that hot cold

I don’t feel pretty, I just feel as an organized “giveaway”

Marble, cement, wax , stone

Choose the one they will give you a tour, okay?

At the end my soul’s wings remain while my body fold

At the end, I was vandalized while the display didn’t delay.
